Moving images can transport us into a state of rapture and send our minds on a journey. Sometimes they can even put us into states of ecstasy. In a joint project with the Festival of Animation Berlin, students from the Animation Class at the Kunsthochschule Kassel explored how such wonderful states of the spirit can be created through cinematic means and transferred their findings to the dome in the form of their own cinematic interpretations.
The result is a 360° film programme, approximately 30 minutes in length, which approaches the theme of ecstasy from a wide variety of angles. From the tickling sensation in the stomach when dreaming of falling into the depths, to the illuminating enlightenment after long brooding, the joy of nonsense, a pleasant thrill, to the great mental fireworks triggered by physical connection. This is an invitation to enjoy a little while of enchantment in the immersive envelopment of the dome.
