Mia Baden, born 2002 in Duisburg, Germany, is currently studying Visual Communications at Kunsthochschule Kassel with the focus on Illustration and Animation.
Following her fascination for book illustration, she premiers with her first short film ‘Diary of an obvious Admirer’ by bringing her thoughts captured in a diary to life with moving colourful illustrations.

My name is Husein Bastouni and I study animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. I grew up on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus and from an early age, I was fascinated by art and drew a lot, especially the cartoons I liked back then.
Due to the war, in 2014 I had to leave my home country and have been living in Germany since 2015. Here I continued my educational career and have been enrolled at the University of Kassel since 2020. Over the years I have developed a fascination for animation, as it is a combination of illustration and moving images, with no limits to the imagination.
One of the things I deal with in my work is my past, where the focus is often on the topics of war and fleeing.

At the moment, I’m working on my final project: in it, I looked at how knowledge is passed between different generations of feminists and how we can deal productively with generational conflicts. Specifically, I shot a series of interviews in which older feminist activists from my hometown engage in conversation with younger people from the region.

Henrike was born in linz and decided to explore her neighbor country after graduation. Kassel was set to be her next stop, where she gave product design a try. Not too happy with that, she enrolled in animation and is animating in the second dimension ever since.

Oleksandra Krasavtseva was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in October 1995.
From 2013 till 2017 she studied architecture at the Academy of Arts and Architecture in Kyiv.
After an architecture bachelor’s degree she began to work in the creative fields as freelance illustrator, graphic designer and manager in an art gallery. In 2018 she started to study visual communication in Kunsthochschule Kassel.
In autumn 2019, together with her sister, she had an exhibition in Kyiv that represented their poetry works.
From November 2019 till January 2020 she was working on her first short animation ZEBRA, which was based on her poem. The premiere of the animation took place at Trickreich 20 in Kassel. The animation was awarded with the “Film Bilder Price” from Thomas Mayer-Hermann.
Her animated experimental short HUGE CHOICE was selected for several international film festivals and has won Short Tiger Award 2023 and Adaptation Award at Cadence Video Poetry Festival at 2022.

After Niklas tried a few semesters in medicine and biology, he finally started studying visual communications at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, with the focus on animation.
Niklas’ work often deals with universal themes such as birth, death, and the human psyche, where he places them in a surreal context that sometimes seems surreal, even disturbing.
After many experiments with a wide variety of media, he finally found his preferred form of artistic expression in stop-motion animation.

After studying Communication Science and Intercultural Business Communication B.A., Lara Rohde decided to go to the Kunsthochschule Kassel. There she studied a few semesters in the class for film and moving image before she changed to the animation class where she is currently learning and working. There she tries her hand at cutout animation, puppet making, photogametry, mapping and 3D animation.
Lara Rohde is currently working on her final project, which is in the field of serious games and virtual reality and is related to her additional qualification in women’s and gender studies.

Smilla Siebenschock (*1999) has been studying visual communication with a focus on animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2020. Her work mainly consists of colorful stylized 2D animations and drawings, as well as short comics. In her work, she takes up seemingly ‘everyday’ observations of everyday life in order to make them more durable, to document and reflect on our fast-paced life routines.

Was born in Ludwigsburg in 1994. From an early age, he made his first attempts at animation, using stop motion to bring his “Lego Star Wars” sets to life. Since then he has never stopped animating, although the materials, technique and content have evolved at least a bit. After graduating from high school in 2013, he completed 6-month internships at “Studio Film Bilder” and “M.A.R.K.13”. After the internship he stayed as a “Digital Artist” at “M.A.R.K.13” until October 2017. He has been studying at the art school since 2017, with the aim of expanding his creative and dramaturgical knowledge based on the technological knowledge he acquired at “Studio Film Bilder” and “M.A.R.K.13”.
In his work, he mostly deals with topics related to the relationship between humans, nature and technology. His technique of choice is 3D animation, which he also likes to combine with 2D animation.
In addition to the animation class, he is also in the editorial design class.

Funda has been studying Visual Communications at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2017. Her areas of work are animation and games. Her artistic work focuses on environment (background design). She works with 3D modelling, draws traditionally and digitally. Likes to write poems and songs to combine with their backgrounds and to tell animated films only with worlds, places, text and language.
