Mia Baden, born 2002 in Duisburg, Germany, is currently studying Visual Communications at Kunsthochschule Kassel with the focus on Illustration and Animation.
Following her fascination for book illustration, she premiers with her first short film ‘Diary of an obvious Admirer’ by bringing her thoughts captured in a diary to life with moving colourful illustrations.

My name is Husein Bastouni and I study animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. I grew up on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus and from an early age, I was fascinated by art and drew a lot, especially the cartoons I liked back then.
Due to the war, in 2014 I had to leave my home country and have been living in Germany since 2015. Here I continued my educational career and have been enrolled at the University of Kassel since 2020. Over the years I have developed a fascination for animation, as it is a combination of illustration and moving images, with no limits to the imagination.
One of the things I deal with in my work is my past, where the focus is often on the topics of war and fleeing.

Henrike was born in linz and decided to explore her neighbor country after graduation. Kassel was set to be her next stop, where she gave product design a try. Not too happy with that, she enrolled in animation and is animating in the second dimension ever since.

After Niklas tried a few semesters in medicine and biology, he finally started studying visual communications at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, with the focus on animation.
Niklas’ work often deals with universal themes such as birth, death, and the human psyche, where he places them in a surreal context that sometimes seems surreal, even disturbing.
After many experiments with a wide variety of media, he finally found his preferred form of artistic expression in stop-motion animation.

Smilla Siebenschock (*1999) has been studying visual communication with a focus on animation at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2020. Her work mainly consists of colorful stylized 2D animations and drawings, as well as short comics. In her work, she takes up seemingly ‘everyday’ observations of everyday life in order to make them more durable, to document and reflect on our fast-paced life routines.
